LAND OVERLAYED ON TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION SYSTEM

Introducing a singular lens for transportation and land use planning. 

Overview

The LOTIS database uses highly-precise baseline transportation and land use datasets in conjunction with a series of first-of-their-kind geospatial algorithms to provide urban planners, GIS analysts and land developers with the tailored analytics they need to make sound decisions in an ever-changing urban environment. 

 

As part of LOTIS, a series of land use and transportation ArcGIS applications have been developed with the goal of improving bicycle and pedestrian mobility, transportation network safety, location-intelligence and livability in Metro Orlando, culminating in specialized tools that analyze transportation network safety deficiencies and land use needs within a single data frame.

 

Through a series of algorithms that juxtapose granular geospatial data with urban planning logic, the LOTIS development team worked backwards from a qualitative assessment of needs in the Orlando metro area to develop a quantitative system capable of measuring deficiencies and identifying potential countermeasures for a host of complex urban problems. 

A "smart cities" database, LOTIS is a highly-granular, functional environment for which location-intelligence can prosper to identify geospatial solutions across a range of issues. The project team will be continually improving and contextualizing the database to meet the needs of the future.
